Activated Carbon

Improve your water’s taste and odor while removing chlorine and organics including VOCs. Charger’s 12 x 40 mesh size traps particles of 30 microns and larger.

Birm

A lightweight catalytic filter media used for removing iron and manganese through oxidation. The oxidized iron or manganese is then filtered.  Birm has an inert core coated with manganese dioxide.

Centaur NDS 12×40 Granular Activated Carbon

This high-grade catalytic carbon filter is excellent for removing chloramines and hydrogen sulfide from potable waters.

Filter-AG

A  lightweight, silica, crystalline quartz media with excellent filtering capability, requiring lower backwash flow rates.

Filter-AG-Plus

A clinoptilolite natural media with a large surface area and microporous structure used for the reduction of suspended matter.

KDF

A bi-metal copper and zinc material used for iron and hydrogen sulfide removal. KDF can control bacteria, algae and fungus growth

Manganese Greensand

A glutonite greensand that is a catalytic material for the removal of iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide. The media is intermittently regenerated with potassium permanganate or continuously with chlorine or a chlorine and potassium permanganate mixture.

Multi-Media

Multi-media is reverse graded layers of filter medias. The layered process allows for higher flow rates plus filtration down to 10 micron-sized particles. Works well for sediment, turbidity and red water iron.

Neutralizing Crushed Marble

A sacrificial media that dissolves in acidic water to create a neutral water. This process adds some hardness to the water. Crushed marble, a mined material, is used in its natural state.

Pyrolox

A naturally mined ore, Pyrolox is a mineral form of manganese dioxide used in reducing hydrogen sulfide, iron and manganese.

Zeo Prep

Filters down to 5 microns. Excellent for removing suspended iron, manganese and turbidity. Removes dissolved iron, hardness and manganese through ion exchange. Can be regenerated with salt brine. Zeo Prep filters solids like nothing else. Zeo Prep’s ion exchange properties make it a dual purpose option for problem water.

Protect Your Water-Using Appliances

A 2009 study commissioned by the Water Quality Research Foundation (WQRF) and conducted by the Battelle Memorial Institute found that adding whole home water treatment helps water heaters and major appliances operate as efficiently as possible, while preventing clogs in showerheads, faucets, and drains.

Less Cleaning, Fewer Chemicals

Soft, filtered water can remove mineral deposits from glasses, silverware, dishes, faucets, fixtures, and shower glass so you can clean less and enjoy your home and family more!

Softer Skin & Hair

Hard water and water that contains high amounts of dissolved minerals can bind with soap when you wash your hands, body, and hair leaving your skin and scalp dry and itchy. Many people spend a lot of money on lotions, shampoos, conditioners, and cosmetics trying to counteract the effects of hard water. Think of how much money you’d save if you fixed the root of the problem – the water!

Longer-lasting, Brighter Laundry

Whole house filters can remove damaging minerals from your water that literally beat your clothes up in the washing machine leaving them dingy and dull. Protect your clothes easily by installing a whole house filter from Smart Living Water Purification.

Common Issues Whole House Filters Solve

Water should look like nothing, smell like nothing, and taste like nothing.

If your water has a taste, an odor, or a hue other than crystal clear,  it’s likely you’ll benefit from a whole house filter. The first step is to identify what’s in your water and then apply the right solution to fix it. A great first step is to schedule a free home water test with an expert from Smart Living Water Purification.

How to Choose the Best Water Filter System

Water quality can vary house to house, so it’s important to understand what’s in your water before you decide on the right type of filter. A free water test can tell you how hard your water is, how much iron is present, if there is chlorine in the water and to what amount, and can also tell you the pH of your water. While all of these are important and can go a long way to helping you understand your water quality and what needs to be done to improve your water,

Once you’ve performed a water test, a local water expert can help you identify the best filter. Smart Living Water Purification’s vast network of professional, qualified dealers can you help you through this process so you don’t waste money on filters that aren’t right for your water and your home.

How Whole House Filters Work

Filters come in many different shapes and sizes. Some need to be removed and replaced on a regular basis while others “backwash” and clean themselves so you can enjoy cleaner water without the hassle of filter changes. Regardless of whether you chose disposable filters or automatic backwashing filters, each will come in a variety of types and sizes. Some are designed to filter chlorine and organics, while others are made to filter particles like iron, manganese and sediment.

These filters are installed where the water enters your home so that you can enjoy the benefits of clean water throughout your house.

The Difference Between Water Softeners and Water Filters

Water softeners work to remove hardness minerals like calcium and magnesium through a process called ion exchange. The water passes through a tank that contains thousands of tiny beads that are charged with sodium ions. As the water runs through the beads, the calcium and magnesium are exchanged from sodium ions softening your water.

Filters mostly do not use ion exchange, rather they weather use adsorption for chlorine and organics or they literally filter the water much like your coffee filter prevents the coffee grounds from entering the coffee pot.
